More about Izabell…
What is your favorite food?
I am always in the mood for sushi!
What is your favorite holiday and why?
I have always loved Thanksgiving. I think it is so special to have a day with friends and family where everyone just gets to appreciate one another and take a moment to reflect on the things in their lives that they’re grateful for.
What is a cool hobby of yours?
I collect little mushroom-themed items and try to find unique handmade ones when I travel somewhere new.
Favorite Halloween costume you wore as a child?
Probably the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, because my parents helped me go all out with the hair and makeup.
What did you want to be “when you grow up”?
I wanted to be a marine biologist.
Why did you become a therapist?
My younger sister with special needs received speech/language therapy throughout most of her childhood, which led me to pursue a career in speech-language pathology. I was inspired by what her SLP was able to help her accomplish, both with her communication and confidence, and I wanted to have that same impact on children and their families’ lives.
What’s the funniest thing one of your kids has said to you or done during therapy?
A pre-K student was talking about her family going to Miami, and I asked, “Oh, why are you going to Miami?” and she said, “No, not your Ami, we’re going to my Ami.” I was cracking up about it for a week after.
Give me one surprising/cool fact about you.
I come from a military family, and we moved 7 times before I finished high school.
What pets do you have and what are their names?
I have a tuxedo cat named Mussel and an Australian Shepherd named Ash.
What is your favorite movie and why?
I love the movie Rio; I’ve seen it so many times I could probably recite the whole thing by heart.
Favorite song?
This is a tough one because my favorite song depends on the day, but right now it is probably Waterfall by Disclosure.
Favorite book?
I love to read, so I don’t think I can pick a single favorite book. However, my favorite book series would be Fourth Wing series by Rebecca Yarros or the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas.
