More about Alexia…
What is your favorite food?
Mexican food and anything pasta.
What is my favorite holiday and why?
I love Christmas! I enjoy decorating, listening to Christmas movies, watching Hallmark movies (although they are cheesy), and the many family traditions that I have grown up with, such as making tamales with my grandma and baking with my mom.
What is a cool hobby of yours?
I enjoy baking and singing.
Favorite Halloween costume you wore as a child?
Hands down, my favorite Halloween costume is when I dressed up as Hannah Montana. I remember leaving school so excited to put my blonde wig on. It was such an iconic costume! I
would most definitely dress up as her again.
What did you want to be “when you grow up”?
I wanted to be three things, which included being a doctor, teacher, or fashion journalist.
Why did you become a therapist?
My passion to become a speech therapist stems from my personal experience of witnessing the significant challenges my little brother faced due to his language delay. I witnessed firsthand how his communication impairment impacted his education, social interaction, and independence. As his older sister, I saw the weight of these barriers, but I also witnessed the impact of effective speech therapy. This personal experience sparked a deep desire in me to be a
part of the solution in helping others and make a positive impact.
What’s the funniest thing one of your clients has said in a session?
I am deathly afraid of bugs, and my past client knew this, and he said, “Miss. Alexia, you’re too old to be afraid”. He probably had a point… however, it’s still a constant fear of mine.
What is one surprising/cool fact about you?
A surprising/cool fact about me is that I used to play softball. I stopped playing in highschool. I was a pitcher and third baseman.
